Cervical cancer is a malignant tumor that is formed in the cervix- a female's reproductive organ which connects the uterus and vagina. Usually, it is considered as a slow-growing tumor that may not have signs and symptoms at first but can be detected by regularly having Pap Tests, a procedure in which cells are scraped from the cervix and viewed under a microscope. It is mainly caused by a virus known as human papillomavirus or HPV and it can be of two types. - The squamous cell carcinoma which arises in the squamous epithelial cells that line in the cervix.
- Adenocarcinoma which arises in the glandular epithelial cells.
